SCP Training
To work as a Surgical Care Practitioner in the UK you must undergo an accredited course and be employed as a Trainee Surgical Care Practitioner.
The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and The Royal College of Surgeons of England are delighted to unveil the Managed Voluntary Register (MVR) for Surgical Care Practitioners alongside the new SCP Curriculum Framework. The new curriculum framework sets the clinical, technical, and professional standards expected of a professional practitioner working in this defined role of surgical care and will be adopted by UK Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in developing and delivering SCP postgraduate education programes.
As a Surgical Care Practice student, you’ll develop a wide range of skills under the direction of a consultant surgeon.
But you’ll also learn on the job, completing 2,200 hours in practice in a variety of clinical settings, and building a portfolio under the supervision of registered healthcare professionals.
